Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit it. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as your preferred language, login status, or items you've interacted with — making your next visit easier and the site more useful.
Cookies are stored in your browser and are sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit. They do not contain executable code and cannot carry viruses.
Related technologies — such as local storage, session storage, and web beacons — serve similar purposes and are treated equivalently in this policy.
2. Cookies We Use
We use three categories of first-party cookies on Steady.ng:
2.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core features.
| Cookie Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| steady_session | 2 hours (sliding) | Maintains your login session and cart state across page navigations. | |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Session | Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection token. Required for all form submissions including login, contact, and token purchase. | |
| remember_web_* | 400 days | Set when you tick "Remember me" during login. Keeps you logged in across browser sessions. |
2.2 Preference Cookies
These cookies remember your settings and preferences so you don't have to reconfigure them on every visit.
| Cookie Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| ph_city | 90 days | Stores your selected city for the cooking gas locator so results default to your area. | |
| ph_dismissed_ann | 7 days | Records that you have dismissed the announcement bar to prevent it from reappearing immediately. |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Platform so we can improve it. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymised — we do not use it to identify individual users.
| Cookie Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| ph_pageview | Session | Tracks page views during a single session to help us understand which tools and pages are most useful. | |
| ph_referrer | 30 days | Records the referring source (e.g., search engine, social media) of your first visit to help us evaluate traffic sources. |
3. We Do Not Use Advertising Cookies
We may review this position in the future. If we introduce advertising cookies, we will update this policy with at least 14 days' notice and implement a cookie consent mechanism that allows you to opt out.
4. Third-Party Cookies
When you use Steady.ng, certain third-party services may set cookies on your device. These are outside our direct control:
| Third Party | Type | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | We load web fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans, DM Sans) from Google Fonts on every page. Google may set cookies and log your IP address as part of serving these font files. See Google's Privacy Policy. | |
| jsDelivr CDN | We load the Alpine.js library from jsDelivr's content delivery network. This CDN may log standard HTTP request data. See jsDelivr's Privacy Policy. | |
| Payment Processors | When you initiate an electricity token purchase or fuel delivery payment, Flutterwave or BuyPower may set session cookies required to process your payment securely. |
5. How to Manage Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using forms on Steady.ng.
Browser Cookie Controls
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (iOS/macOS): Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security → Block All Cookies
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
- Opera: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
You can also use browser extensions such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger for more granular control over third-party tracking.
To opt out of Google's data collection from Fonts, you can load the page without internet access (so fonts fall back to system fonts) or configure your DNS to block fonts.googleapis.com. Note that this is a technical workaround, not a built-in control.
6. Policy Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or the purposes for which we use them. Material updates will be communicated via a site notice or email (for registered users) with at least 14 days' notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
